About Ed Hersh

Ed Hersh founded StoryCentric based on the belief that a well-told story is at the heart of every successful program on every platform.

He is a consultant and educator who is considered an industry thought-leader at the intersection of storytelling, development, execution and how to meet the rapidly changing programming demands of the audience in a chaotic media environment.

He rejoined StoryCentric in March of 2013 after nearly four years at Discovery Communications, including as Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning for Investigation Discovery, where he was instrumental in developing the winning formula that made Investigation Discovery the leading crime and justice network in the US and the #1 total day network for women.

He also served for seven years at Court TV (now truTV) as the executive in charge of the network’s primetime original true-crime series and documentary specials, and prior to that as a programming executive at A&E overseeing true-crime documentaries.

He spent 16 years at ABC News as an award-winning producer in a variety of senior production and programming positions.

Ed's work has been honored by the Emmys, the duPont Awards, and the National Association of Black Journalists. He is graduate of Syracuse University and the Columbia University School of Journalism and is a sought-after panelist, speaker, and lecturer on industry trends in the US, Canada and UK for organizations such as PACT in the UK, and World Congress of Science and Factual Producers.

He currently teaches courses on the changing media business as an adjunct professor on the faculty of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
